Study on the Mechanical Properties and Reaction Mechanism of Castor Oil Modified Polyurethane Binders

Abstract
To develop a castor oil modified polyurethane binder suitable for polyurethane mixtures,it is necessary to deeply investigate the influence law and reaction mechanism of castor oil dosage on the mechanical properties of polyurethane binders.Firstly,the constitutive curve characteristics of polyurethane binders with different dosages(0%,10%,20%and 30%)were studied based on uniaxial tensile tests.Then,the variation laws of mechanical in-dexes such as break tensile strength,fracture elongation,uniaxial tensile stiffness and uniaxial tensile fracture energy of castor oil modified polyurethane binders with different dosages were clarified.Finally,the reaction mechanism was revealed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy tests.The results of uniaxial tensile tests show that the appropriate addition of castor oil(10%~20%)can improve the toughness of polyurethane binders and maintain a certain strength as well;The excessive addition of castor oil(30%)will cause the deterioration of the mechanical properties of polyure-thane binders.The results show that castor oil enhances the hydrogen bond interaction and moderately cross-links with low dosages to improve the toughness of polyurethane binders;With high dosages,the mechanical properties of polyurethane binders will deteriorate due to the defects in the cross-linking network.关键词
