Application of spherical montmorillonite mesoporous composites in the isopropanol dehydration reaction

Abstract
Kilogram-scale spherical montmorillonite(MMT)mesoporous composite materials were successfully prepared using an efficient pulping-ball milling method and spray drying method.The obtained spherical MMT mesoporous composite materials were characterized by XRD,TEM,SEM,N2 adsorption-desorption analysis,XPS,and NH3-TPD techniques.The composites were applied in the isopropanol dehydration reaction to synthesize isopropyl ether,and the influence of their pore structure on the dehydration was investigated.The results demonstrate that the catalytically active MMT was successfully integrated with mesoporous materials,forming composites with highly ordered mesoporous channels.The optimized composite exhibited an isopropanol conversion rate of 47.92%and an isopropyl ether selectivity of 95.11%after a 4 h reaction at 190℃,with no significant decline in performance after six reaction cycles,indicating good stability.The incorporation of MMT enhanced the acidity of the inert mesoporous SiO2 substrate,thereby endowing the mesoporous composites with superior catalytic activity.Moreover,the favorable pore structure and hydrophobic properties further enhanced the catalytic performance of the material.关键词
