Abstract
With the expansion of scale and prolonged operational duration of low-temperature multi-effect distillation(LT-MED)seawater desalination units,scaling issues in equipment have become prominent,which making chemical cleaning a primary solution.However,corrosion of heat exchange tubes was severe during cleaning.This study inves-tigates the causes of corrosion rate variations during chemical cleaning in a domestically manufactured 12 500-ton/day LT-MED seawater desalination unit in a company and proposes effective mitigation strategies to extend the service life of heat exchange tubes.Through continuous monitoring of three chemical cleaning cycles,data on cleaning so-lutions and corrosion coupons in different stages were collected.Static corrosion testing methods were employed to study the effects of cleaning process and cleaning solution composition(e.g.,copper ion concentration)on corrosion rate.Results indicate that increasing of copper ion concentrations in the cleaning solution significantly accelerate the corrosion rate of copper-based heat exchange tubes,exceeding industry-standard requirements;Although the ad-dition of thiourea masking agent can partially inhibits pitting corrosion,the overall corrosion rate continues to rise;The addition of reductant can reduce the corrosion rate,but the effect is limit;The addition of B01 auxiliary addi-tive markedly reduces corrosion rates and effectively inhibit the corrosion of copper ions on copper pipes.The study concludes that copper ion dynamics must be rigorously considered in chemical cleaning processes,cleaning cycles be properly scheduled and suitable corrosion inhibitors and masking agents be selected.The severely corroded cop-per tubes should be gradual replaced with titanium tubes of other corrosion-resistant materials,and the supervision of chemical cleaning procedures should be enhanced.关键词
