Application of Cu-Based Catalysts in Electrocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Abstract
Electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction(eCO2RR)is an important strategy for converting CO2 into high value-added carbon materials.Copper has been widely concerned due to the advantage of the weak adsorption capacity for H,promoting C-C coupling,abundant reserves,and low cost.However,the reaction of CO2 on the surface of Cu catalysts is very complicated and the products are complex and diverse,so how to improve the activity and selectivity of Cu catalysts has become a key issue for technological break-through.In this paper,the reduction pathways of several major products of eCO2RR were systematically summarized from the mecha-nism of CO2 electroreduction products.Several major classes of current Cu-based catalysts were reviewed and their advantages and shortcomings were analyzed.Various catalysts were selected as examples to explore catalyst regulation strategies,including the control of valence state,size,crystallographic planes,and the microstructure of Cu.Finally,a summary and outlook were presented based on the current state of research and the difficulties and challenges that exist in order to design more efficient catalysts in conjunction with clearer theories.关键词
