Lithium-ion battery pack double-layer equalization method based on inductors and capacitors

Abstract
The inconsistency of lithium-ion battery packs reduces capacity,shortens service life,and even poses safety risks.Therefore,effective equalization techniques must be introduced to mitigate the impact of inconsistency.A double-layer equalization method is proposed to improve the equalization speed of series-connected lithium-ion battery packs.In this method,a single-inductor equalization structure improved on the basis of the traditional Buck-Boost circuit is employed for the bottom circuit,while an inductor-capacitor series-connected structure is adopted for the top circuit.By taking the battery SOC(state of charge)as the equilibrium target variable,a double-layer equalization control strategy adapted to the topology is established based on the difference-average method.Experiments with six ternary lithium-ion batteries on the Matlab/Simulink platform show that the double-layer equalization control method can improve equalization speed by 14.5%,15.2%and 13.2%in the resting,charging and discharging states,respectively,in combination with the traditional Buck-Boost equalization method.It is confirmed that the proposed method can improve the equalization speed of battery packs.关键词
