Research on Safety Challenges and Countermeasures of Flexible Operation for Coal-fired Units

Abstract
At present,the main power is changing from coal-fired power to new energy.The flexible operation of coal-fired power units provides the optimal solution to reconcile the imbalance between intermittent renewable energy generation and stable power demand.However,coal-fired units contain a large number of main and auxiliary facilities as well as complex energy conversion processes.Their safety issues are becoming increasingly prominent under flexible operation.In view of this,this paper reviews the safety challenges and countermeasures of coal-fired units under flexible operation.First,the safety problems are analyzed with respect to the boiler,turbine,generator,and control system of coal-fired units.Analysis reveals that the primary safety concerns for boilers involve unstable combustion,heating surface damage,fan stall surge,and SCR system operational failures.The safety problems on turbine are thermal fatigue damage,blade water erosion and large shafting vibration.The safety problems on generator involve the fatigue fracture and short circuit of stator rotor.Safety problems on control system are inaccurate data acquisition,lag of data processing and control,and improper implementation of equipment control strategy.Then,the technical solutions to the safety problems of each system are sorted out according to the engineering practice.Finally,the paper prospects future research directions for improving the flexible operation capability of coal-fired units.In conclusion,it provides theoretical guidance and technical support for promoting low-carbon and flexible transformation of coal-fired units.关键词
