A dataset of benthic diatoms in Wuliangsuhai lake(2020-2021)

Abstract
Wuliangsuhai Lake,located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River,is an important water diversion base and known as an ecological barrier in Northwest China.Its ecological status is very important.This dataset is constructed through two consecutive years of surveys of Wuliangsuhai Lake,during which benthic diatom samples were systematically collected on-site,with reference to domestic and foreign monographs and journals,and based on a commonly-used classification system in China.This dataset documents 70 species of benthic diatoms belonging to 12 families and 31 genera,with Nitzschia identified as the dominant genus.The abundance of benthic diatoms in Wuliangsuhai Lake ranges from 87.5 to 133,333.3 cells/cm2,with an average of 12,042.2 cells/cm2.The dataset includes 152 entries and comprises seven fields:sampling site,sampling year,Chinese family name,Chinese genus name,Chinese name,Latin name,and abundance.To ensure data accuracy and reliability,the dataset was subject to strict quality control and assessment throughout the sampling,processing,and classification procedures,ensuring high data quality and reproducibility.The dataset can provide scientific support for the prevention and control of water pollution and the protection of aquatic biodiversity in Wuliangsuhai Lake.关键词
