Preparation of Activated Carbon by Steam Activation of Forming Gasification Fine Ash
摘要
Abstract
Coal gasification fine ash(CGFA)is a solid waste generated during coal gasification in circulating fluidized bed(CFB).Due to the advantages of developed pore and high carbon content,in this study,CGFA is activated to prepare activated carbon(AC)in order to achieve the high-value utilization of such residual carbon.Powder CGFA particles are first squeezed into cylindrical particles via physical forming and then a series of steam activation experiments of forming CGFA are conducted on a lab-scale vertical furnace.Based on this,kilogram-scale activation experiments are carried out on a bench-scale moving bed test rig. Results of lab-scale vertical furnace show that the CGFA achieves the best activation effect at 1 000℃when the carbon conversion ratio reaches 45%.The maximum special surface area(SBET)is up to 813.5 m2/g.It is found that after moving bed activation process, forming particles of CGFA are effectively activated and the activation carbon prepared is characterized with a methylene blue value of 151 mg/g,SBET of 632 m2/g,and iodine value(I)of 883 mg/g.Besides,the tailing gas produced in the moving bed activation process contains combustibles with a volume concentration above 85%,and the heating value is up to 2776 kcal/m3.This work preliminarily verifies the feasibility of preparing activated carbon using CGFA and provides a theoretical guidance for achieving the high-value utilization of such fine ash and further large-scale application.关键词
