Abstract

For hydrogen production in DC microgrids,investigating a DC/DC hydrogen production converter with bipolar voltage,high current,and ripple-free characteristics can improve electrolysis efficiency and enhance renewable energy integration.Based on the pseudo-bipolar three-phase interleaved Buck hydrogen production converter,this study reconstructs the switching phase sequence and modulation method by drawing on the principles of traditional six-pulse phase-controlled rectification.The upper switches of the common-cathode bridge arms and the lower switches of the common-anode bridge arms are designated as the main control switches,with a phase shift of 120°between each,while the main control switches of the upper and lower bridge arms are staggered by 60°.This configuration enables energy transfer between the upper and lower bridge arms,forming a true-bipolar stacked six-phase interleaved DC/DC hydrogen production converter,ensuring uniform flow field distribution within the dual electrolyzers.For a 250 kW-50 Nm3/h hydrogen production system,considering a 2%fluctuation in the 1200 V DC bus and a 20%equivalent impedance mismatch between the two electrolyzers,a virtual resistance droop control for the neutral line is introduced in addition to the dual closed-loop self-current-sharing control,effectively suppressing both inter-phase circulating currents and ground-loop currents.Experimental results demonstrate that the DC/DC converter exhibits excellent overall performance,and the proposed control strategy is effective,making it suitable for hydrogen production in DC microgrids.
