Abstract

To evaluate the effects of varying levels of fatty acid calcium supplementation on the production performance,egg quality,yolk fatty acid compositions,and plasma biochemical parameters of Hy-Line Brown laying hens,a total of 336 Hy-Line Brown hens,aged 330 days,were randomly assigned to four groups,with each group consisting of seven replicates and 12 hens per replicate.The control group received a basal diet supplemented with soybean oil(CA0),whereas the experimental groups were fed diets in which soybean oil was substituted with fatty acid calcium at levels of 65%(CA65),80%(CA80),and 100%(CA100).The experiment spanned eight weeks,during which feed intake,egg production,and egg weight were monitored,and the egg production rate and feed-to-egg ratio were calculated.At the end of the experiment,egg quality,plasma biochemical parameters,and yolk fatty acid compositions were assessed.The results showed that,compared with the control group,the average egg weight decreased significantly in the CA65 and CA100 groups(P<0.05),whereas the eggshell thickness in the CA80 group increased significantly(P<0.01).The eggshell strength increased significantly across all the fatty acid calcium groups(P<0.05).In the CA80 and CA100 groups,the yolk saturated fatty acid content increased significantly(P<0.01),whereas the unsaturated fatty acid content decreased significantly(P<0.01).Specifically,in the CA100 group,the yolk C21:0 content decreased significantly(P<0.05),and the C20:4n-6 content increased significantly(P<0.05).The plasma glucose level was significantly reduced in the CA80 group(P<0.05),and the plasma alkaline phosphatase level was significantly lowered across all the fatty acid calcium groups(P<0.01).These findings indicate that substituting soybean oil with fatty acid calcium in the diet influences significantly the production performance and egg quality of laying hens,and alters the yolk fatty acid compositions.
