Creative Issues in Foreign Literature Translation during the Late Qing and Early RepublicPeriod:With a Focus on the Controversy Between Guo Moruo,Mao Dun,Zheng Zhenduo
摘要
Abstract
In the late Qing and earlyRepublic of China,a large number of foreign literary works were translated and introduced into China.As the scope of translation expanded and the difficulties of transla-tion became more prominent,creative issues in translation were extensively debated,discussed,and even argued over,either based on translation theory or following translation practice.Among them,the views and arguments between Guo Moruo andZheng Zhenduo,Mao Dun and others were the most representa-tive,giving rise to translation categories such as"irgin""matchmaker"and"nurse".They focused on im-portant issues such as whether translation is a"medium"or"re-creation."No matter what the stance and starting point were at the time,they all contributed to the construction of modern Chinese translation the-ory and the progress of translation undertakings,and deserve serious reflection and scrutiny by the aca-demic community.关键词
