Abstract
National identity is tied to self-perception and is inseparable from interactions in international relations.Japan's maritime national identity is a geographically and strategically grounded concept that serves as the foundation of its domestic and foreign policies.Historically, this identity has consistently aligned with Japan's strategic objectives, evolving from a militaristic and expansionist maritime power to a trading nation, and now to a comprehensively developed maritime power. In practice,Japan's maritime identity has adapted to different strategic priorities at various stages of national development, shifting focus from port shipping and maritime technology to the exploitation of marine resources.Today,it is centered on building a strong maritime military power. From an internal and external coordination perspective,Japan's maritime identity aligns with its foreign strategy, presenting different facets to allies, stakeholders, and the international community to deepen mutual trust and expand national interests. While many countries have maritime strategies, not all are maritime nations. For Japan, its maritime strategy is a critical component of the interplay between national security and development, and the intrinsic unity of its maritime and national strategies is a defining feature of its maritime identity construction.Currently,as the geopolitical significance of the oceans grows and China accelerates its efforts to become a strong maritime country,Japan's maritime national identity construction warrants close attention.关键词
