Abstract

The synthetic aperture radar(SAR)on 5m S-band SAR(S-SAR)satellite is the first space-borne full-polarization SAR based on reflector antenna with phased array feed in China.The SAR payload operates at S-band with the highest resolution of 5m,and the widest swath of 200km.Based on the design conception of low mass and low power consumption,its main techni-cal features are as follows:adopting a large deployable dual-focus and dual-polarization phased ar-ray feed reflector antenna system,with a reflector antenna aperture of 9.40m×3.75m,and with 16 dual-polarization feeds arranged along the range direction on the focal plane.The horn array is excited by T/R modules developed using high-efficiency domestically produced GaN devices,with a single channel transmission power of 200W and a total radar transmitting power of over 3200W after spatial synthesis.The payload weights 252kg and has a peak power consumption of 1210W.The on-orbit test results show that the performance of SAR payload meets or exceeds the design requirements and acquires S-band SAR images containing rich ground object information with high image quality.
