Response of Sesame Seed Germination to Salt Stress

Abstract
Studying the response of sesame seed germination to salt stress can provide certain reference value for the breeding of salt tolerant sesame varieties and the development and utilization of saline alkali land.Three sesame varieties(Luozhi 22,Luozhi 66,and Luozhi 88)selected by the Luohe Academy of Agricultural Sciences were used as experimental materials to simulate salt stress using NaCl solution.The NaCl solution concentration was set to 0(distilled water,CK),50,100,150,200,and 250 mmol/L for six treatments.Germination experiments were conducted using filter paper culture in culture dishes to analyze the changes in sesame seed germination parameters under different concentrations of salt stress treatment.The results showed that with the increase of salt stress concen-tration,the germination potential,germination rate,and germination index of Luozhi 22 and Luozhi 88 all showed a gradually decreasing trend,and different concentrations of salt stress would inhibit their seed germination.The ger-mination potential,germination rate,and germination index of Luozhi 66 showed an initial increase followed by a decrease,with a promoting effect observed under low concentrations(50,100 mmol/L)of salt stress.The root length,shoot length,and fresh weight growth of Luozhi 66 were relatively least inhibited by salt stress.Under low salt conditions,Luozhi 66 are more suitable for germination,providing material for the promotion and breeding of salt tolerant sesame variety.关键词
