The Impact and Mechanism of Paternal Participation on the Quality of Life of Childbearing-Age Population:An Empirical Study Based on Data from the China Family Panel Studies

Abstract
Based on the data of the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)in 2020,this study examines the impact of paternal participation on the subjective and objective quality of life of the childbearing-age population and its mechanism.The research findings are as follows:Firstly,paternal participation has a significantly positive impact on the objective quality of life of both male and female childbearing-age populations,with the positive impact on women being greater than that on men.Paternal participation only has a positive impact on the subjective quality of life of men,and has no significant impact on the female population.Secondly,self-efficacy and children's non-cognitive abilities play a mediating effect between paternal participation and the subjective quality of life of the female.Self-efficacy plays a masking role in the influence of paternal participation on the objective quality of life of both men and women.Thirdly,there are urban-rural and generational heterogeneities in the impact of paternal participation on the subjective and objective quality of life of the childbearing-age population.This paper proposes policy suggestions for promoting paternal participation and improving the quality of life of the childbearing-age population from the perspective of paternal training and other aspects.关键词
