Sweet Burden:Conflict and Adjustment in the Division of Labor in Family Infant and Toddler Caregiving

Abstract
The basic principle of infant and toddler care in China is"family-based,supplemented by institutional childcare".Parents are the primary responsible persons for the upbringing,care and health management of infants and toddlers.However,contemporary family structure has undergone profound changes,showing a trend of smaller scale,dispersed residence and weakened function of raising children.The prominent contradictions in the division of labor in infant and toddler care are manifested as the break of the coordination mechanism among multiples subjects,the bondage of the traditional family parenting model,and the imbalance of the division of labor in care.It is urgent to reshape the division of the labor order,promote the formation of a new order,realize the transition from mechanical solidarity to organic solidarity,and promote the healthy development of infant and toddler care services.In the future,it is possible to deepen the practice of infant and toddler care from three levels:field,capital and habitus,stimulate the willingness of families to give birth,reduce the burden of child-rearing,alleviate the cost of supporting,and improve the fertility support policy system.Based on this,the following adjustment paths are proposed:to break the dilemma of anomie division of labor through field re-construction,to rapidly improve the quality of parenting through capital empowerment,and to reconstruct the division of labor order in care through the reshaping of habitus.关键词
