Diagnostic value of serum indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and interleukin-5 for allergic airway diseases in children

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of serum indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase(IDO)and interleukin-5(IL-5)with allergic airway diseases in children.Methods Serum samples were collected from 45 children with allergic airway diseases(included in the allergy group)and 15 children with non-allergic airway diseases(included in the non-allergy group)admitted to Zibo First Hospital from June 2022 to March 2023.IDO was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The levels of IDO and IL-5 were compared,and the differences in levels between the two groups were observed.Results The IDO level in the allergy group was lower than that in the non-allergy group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the serum IL-5 level between the two groups(P＞0.05).The AUC of serum IDO in diagnosing allergic airway diseases in children was 0.687(95％CI:0.543-0.831),with a sensitivity of 48.9％and a specificity of 80.0％.The AUC of IL-5 in diagnosing allergic airway diseases in children was 0.624(95％CI:0.467-0.781).Conclusion IDO can assist in the diagnosis of allergic airway diseases in children.If it is used for the efficacy evaluation of specific immunotherapy,it may become a new biomarker with good clinical significance.关键词
