Effects of single and composite contamination of polylactic acid microplastics and cadmium on wheat seed germination before and after ultraviolet aging

摘要

Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of degradable microplastics before and after aging and their combined pollution with heavy metals on seed germination.wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)was selected as the experimental plant,and different contents of polylactic acid microplastics(PLA,0,100,200,500,1 000,2 000,5 000,10 000 mg·kg-1)and cadmium(Cd,0,0.3,3 mg·kg-1)were used for single and compound contamination of wheat seed germination experiments.The results showed that the surface morphology of PLA microplastics changed from smooth to rough due to ultraviolet aging,and there was a significant difference in the germination rate of PLA on wheat seeds before and after aging in all treatments.The germination rate of wheat seeds was between 80.0%~96.7%,but neither single PLA,aged polylactic acid microplastic(APLA)pollution nor composite pollution had any significant effect on the germination rate of wheat seeds.Single PLA contamination had no significant effect on wheat bud length,but 5 000 mg·kg-1 PLA significantly inhibited wheat root length.200 mg·kg-1 APLA significantly inhibited malt growth,and the inhibition rate was as high as 29.8%.Under the combined contamination conditions of microplastics and Cd,PLA and 0.3 mg·kg-1 Cd inhibited the bud length and root length of wheat,and 100 mg·kg-1 APLA and 3 mg·kg-1 Cd promoted the growth of wheat bud length to the greatest extent,at this time,1.16 cm,0.3 mg·kg-1 Cd and APLA compound treatment had a greater effect on root length,and the difference between the shortest and longest root length was 1.26 cm.From the overall point of view of this experiment,the effect of microplastics and Cd on the germination rate of wheat was basically antagonistic,while the effect on the bud length and root length of wheat was basically synergistic.
