Metaphor and History:the Historical Impact of Dufu's Lady of Guo State and Satire on Fair Ladies

Abstract
Emperor Xuanzong occupied his son's wife Yang Yuhuan as his imperial concubine,but also had sexual relationship with Lady of Guo State,who was Lady Yang's eldest sister,initiating incestuous politics.From then on,he gave himself up to indulgence and pleasure,granting even the least worthy officials of Yang family high official ranks and great wealth,which led to the corruption of the imperial court.Du Fu's poem Lady of Guo State hints at the unspeakable relationship between Emperor Xuanzong and Lady Guoguo,while Satire on Fair Ladies depicts the extravagance and debauchery of the Yang siblings,employing a dual allegory to implicate the vulgar deeds of Yang Guozhong and Lady of Guo State.These two poems complement each other.Du Fu's poetry reflects the darkness through metaphor,filled with subtle satire and inexplicable sorrow.The details in his poems were later extensively elaborated in historical works such as the Jiutang Shu,Xintang History and Zi Zhi Tong Jian serving as evidence in historical records.关键词
