Comprehensive evaluation of production performance and nutritional quality of 20 sainfoin

Abstract
This study aims to screen sainfoin germplasms with superior production performance and nutritional quality.Using 20 sainfoin germplasms from different regions as materials,a comprehensive evaluation of their production performance and nutritional quality is conducted through grey relational analysis.The results showed significant variations in phenotypic traits among different sainfoin germplasms.Leaf characteristics exhibited significant differences between germplasms(P<0.05).S2 and S5 had leaf widths exceeding 0.60 cm,S14 demonstrated the highest plant height,and S7 displayed the most prominent leaf-to-stem ratio.The fresh grass yield ranged from 47.56 to 61.33 t/hm²,with S1 showing the highest yield.The dry grass yield varied between 13.32 and 20.09 t/hm²,with S20 achieving the maximum value.Regarding nutritional value,S2 exhibited the highest crude protein(CP)content,while S20 possessed the lowest neutral detergent fiber(NDF)content and optimal nutritional quality.S20 displayed the highest relative feeding value(RFV)at 131.04%,whereas S10 contained the highest tannin(TN)content at 0.77%.Grey relational analysis indicated that TN,ether extract(EE),fresh grass yield,CP,dry grass yield,stem diameter,and dry-to-fresh ratio carried higher weights,serving as key traits for sainfoin germplasm screening.The study revealed that five germplasms(S20,S14,S2,S1,and S5)demonstrated better comprehensive performance.关键词
