牧食4种不同沉水植物对福寿螺生长及产卵的影响
Effects of grazing on four different submerged plants on the growth and spawning of Pomacea canaliculate

Abstract
As the pivotal primary producers in shallow lakes,submerged plants execute a fundamental function in maintaining aquatic ecosystem function and biodiversity.Pomacea canaliculate are pernicious sweetwater snails that have invaded South China,and their large-scale grazing can lead to the decline of submerged plant cover,alteration of community structure,and degradation of lake ecosystem function.To compare the grazing effect of P.canaliculate on different hosts and corresponding physiological responses,biochemical analyses and behavioral observations were employed to evaluate the physicochemical properties and nutritional quality of four species of aquatic macrophytes and their impacts on grazing selectivity,preference,growth and spawning of snails.P.canaliculate displayed robust feeding selectivity for Elodea nuttallii and Hydrilla vcarticillata,which might be related to the high content of total sugars and amino acids;H.vcarticillata and Ceratophyllum demersum were the most preferred aquatic grasses,and the feeding preference might be related to the low content of cellulose and phenol as well as the high content of crude protein and ash;the highest growth rate of body weight of medium-sized snails was found in the E.nuttallii group,which may be due to the high energetic value;and both the daily and total egg production of females were the highest in H.vcarticillata group,which might be associated with the high content of carotenoids.Therefore,the planting pattern of submerged plants with Vallisneria spiralis as the dominant population could be an effective antifeeding countermeasure.This study deciphered the physicochemical mechanisms of different submerged plants affecting the grazing behavior,growth performance and reproductive biology of P.canaliculate.Our data can provide baseline information and scientific basis for the better utilization and protection of submerged plants as well as dispersion management for this pest.关键词
