Abstract

Deladenus siricidicola can be effectively used for the biological control of Sirex noctilio,a woodwasp infesting pine trees.To clarify the effects of CO2 concentrations and induction time on mycetophagous D.siricidicola,larvae of the nematode were induced at different concentrations for 6 h every day for five days,and the number ratio of larvae and adults during different induction time was counted after exposure to CO2 at concentrations of 0.2‰,0.3‰,0.4‰,0.5‰,0.6‰.The results indicated that within the tested CO2 concentration range,the proportion of larvae in the total nematode population increased significantly with the increase of CO2 concentration,while the proportion of adults decreased with the increase of CO2 concentration.There were significant differences in the proportion of larvae and the proportion of adults between different CO2 concentrations.At a CO2 concentration of 0.6‰,the larvae proportion was the highest,and the adult proportion was the lowest.Inducing the larvae of mycetophagous D.siricidicola at a CO2 concentration of 0.6‰ for 18 h can effectively induce the larvae to enter the diapause state.The results may provide a reference for prolonging the preservation time of mycetophagous D.siricidicola larvae,exploring storage conditions of mycetophagous D.siricidicola and the subsequent large-scale development of nematode biocontrol agents for S.noctilio.
