摘要

Abstract

Plant life forms,as a combination of plant functional traits,reflect the differences in plant ecological niches and life history strategies.Therefore,the response of different life forms to the environment and their community assembly mechanisms may vary.Disentangling the relative importance of deterministic and stochastic processes along an elevational gradient and understanding their environmental influences are important for advancing our knowledge of plant community formation and succession.For this study,woody and herbaceous communities in the mountains of southeastern Xizang were selected.Variations in community species composition,changes in the deterministic processes of community assembly along the elevation gradient,and the dominant environmental factors influencing these processes were analyzed using β-diversity and null models.The results demonstrated that the variation in species composition for both types of plant communities exhibited a significant decreasing trend with increasing elevation.The β-diversity of woody plant communities ranged from 0.74 to 0.36,while that of herbaceous plant communities ranged from 0.84 to 0.40.For woody plant communities,the relative contribution of deterministic processes increased with elevation and was mainly influenced by precipitation.The relative contribution of deterministic processes to herbaceous plant communities decreased with increasing elevation and was mainly influenced by temperature.These findings reveal differences in the driving factors of community assembly between woody and herbaceous plants in the southeastern Tibetan alpine environment,attributable to their differing life history strategies.This research enhances understanding of species distribution patterns and the mechanisms that maintain community diversity.
