Reconstructing Multidimensional Values of Restorative Landscapes

Abstract
Against the backdrop of global environmental degradation,public health crises,cultural identity loss and economic structure transformation,restorative landscape research has evolved into a pivotal interdisciplinary domain for advancing sustainable social and ecosystem development.This paper synthesizes theoretical progress,empirical evidence,and practical innovations across four restorative dimensions of health restoration,ecological rehabilitation,cultural revitalization and economic recovery,and reveals their potentials as systematic solutions.At the health level,exposure to urban nature can alleviate psychological stress and enhance physiological well-being;at the ecology level,restorative landscapes can enhance biodiversity,improve ecosystem services and functions and contribute to carbon neutrality goal based on the ecology theories;at the culture level,landscapes function as a culture memory carriers to preserve collective memory through place attachment and narrative reinforcement;and at the economy level,monetization approaches and innovative financing are adopted to translate ecological value to economic value.The study further discusses synergistic potentials of the four dimensions,while identifying critical gaps such as insufficient theoretical frameworks,absent multidimensional evaluation systems,and stakeholder conflicts.Future directions emphasize constructing an interdisciplinary theoretical framework to promote the integrative understanding of restorative landscapes,developing operational assessment indicators and quantitative methodologies of interdisciplinary restorative landscape,and promoting the research on multi-actor participation and coordination mechanism to enhance the practices and improve the governance capacity,thereby facilitating the alignment of restorative landscapes with the implementation of Development Goals(SDGs).关键词
