Stress Relief Effect of Campus Landscape Perception on Psychological Sub-Health Middle-School Students

Abstract
[Objective]To explore the characteristics of therapeutic environments in middle school campuses for the purpose of pressure relief in landscape,and provide empirical and theoretical references for constructing audio-visual landscapes in the campuses with the aim at stimulating users to achieve optimal self-healing effects.[Method]Real environments are simulated through video and audio,and two types of natural sounds and four forms of enclosed plant space as variables to analyze the changes in individual EEG β waves,blood pressure,heart rate and Total Mood Disturbance Score of middle-school students before and after pressure relief in landscape by using the method which combines a subjective preference questionnaire with objective physiological experiments in order to determine the recovery effect of different landscape perceptions on the students'psychological sub-health.[Result]1)Under visual landscape stimulation,the semi-open plant space has the best stress relief effect on students with the mental sub-health problem,and the recovery benefits of water flowing sound and bird chirping sound are similar;2)Not all sensory interaction stimulation groups have better stress relief effects than the single sensory stimulation groups.The combination of semi-open space and natural sound has the most significant effect on the changes in physiological and psychological indicators,which shows the best effect on the experiment participants in terms of positive emotions and stress relief;and 3)Under sensory interaction stimulation,audio-visual landscapes have the more pronounced impact on the changes in psychological indicators than on physiological signals.4)Due to their varying spatial needs,different groups of people have different preferences for plant space types,compared with middle-school students.[Conclusion]It is recommended that campus healing landscape design should focus on creating semi-open spaces.When constructing healing landscapes,the opening and closing of plant spaces and the harmony of sound environment should be carefully considered to achieve the best healing effect.In addition,the sample size of this experiment may affect the universality of the conclusions,and further validation with larger number of samples is needed in the future.关键词
