Construction of Urban Green Space Carbon Stocks Based on the Whole Life Cycle and Carbon Sink Quantification

Abstract
[Objective]To provide guidance for precise quantitative assessment of carbon sink of green spaces through the"plants-soil-water bodies-atmosphere"multi-element accounting of carbon sink and carbon storage in green spaces.[Method]Taking the green space in the western section of the Wei River Ecological Landscape Belt in Qinhan New Town as a study case,the paper develops a comprehensive method to quantify the benefits of carbon sink in urban green spaces by constructing a green space carbon stock to calculate its static carbon storage and conducting dynamic quantification of green space carbon sinks and carbon emissions and the simulation of carbon neutrality based on the whole life cycle method.[Result]The current carbon sink of the selected section is 181.68 t,while the carbon emission is 2 848.24 t,making it a carbon emitter.It will take 16 years to achieve carbon neutrality.The carbon storage of the carbon pool is 1 652.17 t.The carbon density is 12.79 kg·m-2,while the plant carbon pool has a higher carbon density than the surface soil organic carbon pool.The carbon densities of forest-type,shrub-type and ground-cover-type green spaces are 18.83 kg·m-2,7.18 kg·m-2 and 4.23 kg·m-2,respectively,and their carbon pool indices are 1.295,1.38 and 0.87,respectively.[Conclusion]The factors influencing the carbon sink of green spaces are vegetation,soil characteristics,and maintenance&management practices.Based on this,the strategies to enhance the carbon sink of urban green spaces,along with seven plant community models designed for high-carbon-sink green spaces are proposed,aiming to shorten the timeline of carbon neutrality by 5.13 years from both the enhancement of carbon sequestration and the reduction of emissions.关键词
