Discussion on the Theory of"Treating Dysentery by Addressing the Liver"in Ulcerative Colitis
摘要
Abstract
Although the pathological location of ulcerative colitis(UC)is in the spleen and large intestine in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),it is closely related to the liver.The treatment of UC from the perspective of the liver has a profound theoretical foundation,it is rooted in ancient classic Huangdi's Internal Classic and enriched by later practitioners'experiences.Liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome is one of the common patterns in UC,and UC is often accompanied by liver-related conditions,depression or anxiety,fatigue,anemia,dry eye syndrome,and oral ulcers,which can all be understood as liver system disorders in TCM.In modern clinical practice,four therapeutic approaches—soothing the liver and relieving depression,clearing the liver and purging fire,nourishing the blood and emolliating the liver,and enriching and tonifying the liver and kidney—are commonly used to treat UC by addressing the liver,yielding significant clinical efficacy.This paper discusses the treatment of UC based on the theory of"treating dysentery by addressing the liver,"aiming to provide a reference for expanding clinical approaches to UC.关键词
