温通方蜡疗对类风湿性关节炎患者手功能康复的疗效评价
Evaluation of the Efficacy of Wax Therapy with Wentong Decoction on Hand Function Rehabilitation in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of the wax therapy with Wentong decoction on hand function rehabilitation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA)of cold-dampness blockage pattern with low to moderate activity.Methods:In accordance with the principle of random allocation,66 patients presenting with RA of low to moderate activity and cold-dampness blockage pattern were randomly assigned to finger exercise group(n=33)and wax therapy group(n=33),the finger exercise group received basic treatment(methotrexate,folic acid tablets,celecoxib capsules)in conjunction with finger exercise therapy,while the wax therapy group under-went basic treatment in combination with wax therapy with Wentong decoction,both treatment courses were 60 days.The following variables were observed in both groups before and after treatment:pain intensity(VAS score),functional limitation of hand joints(SOFI score),TCM syndrome score(TCMSS),number of affected joints with pain and swelling,grip strength of hand,duration of morning stiffness,blood sedimentation rate(ESR),and C-reactive protein(CRP).Results:The total response rate of wax therapy group was 87.88%,which was higher than 66.67%that of finger exercise group(P<0.05),indicating a superior efficacy of the for-mer.Following treatment,the duration of morning stiffness,VAS score,number of joint swelling and pain,SOFI score,TCMSS,ESR,and CRP in both groups decreased,and the average grip strength increased.The wax therapy group was superior to the finger exercise group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The wax therapy with Wentong decoction is an effective method for reducing the degree of joint swelling and pain,duration of morning stiffness,functional limitation of hand joints,and improving the level of grip strength in RA patients with low to moderate activity and cold-dampness blockage pattern.Furthermore,it has been demonstrated to significantly reduce the levels of ESR and CRP in the blood of RA patients,thereby exert-ing a beneficial anti-inflammatory effect and facilitating the rehabilitation of hand function in RA patients,which provides a promis-ing new avenue for rehabilitative treatment.关键词
