Abstract

Wenchuan County is located in the typical mountainous environment of Minjiang River Basin in Northwest Sichuan and has experienced the destruction and reconstruction process of the 5.12 earthquake in the past two decades,and the land cover and local ecosystem functions in the county have been evolving under the influence of planning and construction.Based on the 12-view land satellite 8 operational land imager-thermal infrared sensor(Landsat-8 OLI_TIRS)remote sensing images acquired in 2000,2010,and 2020,this paper utilized the random forest model for machine learning training and land cover classification and then integrated the landscape transfer matrix,buffer analysis,and land cover orientation model to analyze the land cover and ecosystem function evolutions of Wenchuan County between 2000 and 2020 through quantitative comparison and attribution analysis.The results show that the land cover of Wenchuan County in the past two decades generally features the degradation of grassland and forest land and the expansion of farmland and building land,and the final area of building land has increased by 2.1 times after first degradation and then expansion;the final area of farmland has expanded by 6.5%after first expansion and then degradation.Under the influence of local topographic and geomorphic patterns,farmland and residential changes mainly occur along rivers.Along with the spatio-temporal changes in land cover,the comprehensive function of local ecosystems gradually rebounds and stabilizes after the decline in the first decade.The relevant statistical data and analysis results can provide references for scientific research and policy planning on rational land use and ecosystem protection in the southwest mountainous areas.
