摘要

Abstract

[Purposes]This paper aims to analyze the distribution characteristics and evolution patterns of swelling pressure exerted on the inclined back surface of the gravity retaining wall during the water immersion and swelling process of expansive soil and reveal the interaction mechanism between the expansive soil slope and the gravity retaining wall during humidification.[Methods]A 1∶10 laboratory scaled model test of a inclined retaining wall for Baise expansive soil slope was carried out.The soil surface heave and displacement vector under the static condition of the model retaining wall during water immersion were monitored,and the variation of the earth pressure on the back of the wall with the displacement of the wall during the movement of the model retaining wall was obtained.[Findings]The horizontal displacement change of the expansive soil slope is larger than the vertical displacement change,and the deformation decreases gradually with the increase in depth;the swelling pressure increases rapidly in the early stage of water immersion,fluctuates for a period of time with the increase in water immersion duration,and then gradually tends to be stable.when the swelling is stable,the distribution of swelling pressure along the depth shows non-linear characteristics,showing a changing trend of first increasing sharply and then slowing down;a small displacement of the retaining wall can significantly reduce the swelling pressure.When the displacement of the retaining wall reaches 4.00 mm,the maximum swelling pressure decreases by about 81.5%.[Conclusions]Therefore,the influence of swelling pressure should be fully considered in the design of gravity retaining walls of expansive soil slopes.
