Abstract

In order to screen out high-yielding and high-quality spring wheat varieties suitable for popularization in the irrigation areas of central Gansu and to provide a reference for improving local spring wheat production,4 newly introduced spring wheat varieties were tested and compared in terms of yield,economic traits,biological characteristics,and quality traits.Results showed that average yields of Longchun 44,Wuchun 11 and Jiuchun 14 reached 6 787.50,6 240.28 and 6 087.50 kg/ha,respectively,with yield increases of 32.30%,21.63%and 18.65%over the control variety Ningchun 4.Compared with the control,the spike rates of Longchun 44,Wuchun 11 and Juchun 14 were 6.1,3.5 and 1.4 percentage points higher,respectively,the number of grains per spike increased by 27.6%,3.3%and 5.0%,and the protein content increased by 11.6%,11.6%and 2.3%.Longchun 44 and Wuchun 11 had moderate growth periods,strong resistance to diseases,pests and adverse conditions,high panicle formation rates and grain numbers per spike,as well as good processing and nutritional qualities,making them suitable for large-scale demonstration and promotion planting.Jiuchun 14,due to its superior agronomic traitsand stress resistance,could be used as an alternative variety for moderate-scale demonstration planting.
