劳动参与对老年人心理健康的影响
The Impact of Labor Participation on Older Adults'Mental Health:Latest Empirical Evidence from China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey(CLASS)

Abstract
In the context of a gradual increase in the statutory retirement age in China,the potential social value of elderly labor participation requires deeper exploration.This study employs data from the 2023 China Elderly Social Tracking Survey,utilizing OLS and 2SLS regression models to investi-gate the impact of labor participation on older adults'mental health,and analyze the mechanisms and differential effects.Key findings include:first,labor participation can significantly improve the mental health of older adults;second,elderly labor participation serves multiple functions across eco-nomic,social,cultural,and physiological dimensions and improves mental health through increasing personal income,expanding social networks,shifting aging attitudes,and improving sleep quality;third,the mental health benefits of labor participation are more pronounced among younger,mar-ried,and non-retired elderly individuals;fourth,elderly individuals in comfortable work environments,with flexible schedules,and voluntary employ-ment experience greater psychological health benefits from labor participation.These findings underscore not only the necessity of elderly labor partici-pation in China but also provide a solid foundation for policy measures to further enhance its health-promoting effects.Based on this,the article propo-ses six specific policy recommendations:leveraging delayedretirement,improving supporting policies,safeguarding work rights,optimizing resource al-location,enhancing work environments,and distinguishing motivational factors for participation.关键词
