Abstract

To understand the spatio-temporal co-existence of Sagitta bedoti and S.nagae from the perspective of community ecology,abundance data of S.bedoti and S.nagae with biological-environmental factors in the Yangtze River Estuary and adjacent waters were sampled in December 2019(autumn)and May 2020(spring).Based on generalized additive models(GAMs),the relationships between species and environmental factors were analyzed,and the co-existence patterns between S.bedoti and S.nagae were tested by the null model.The results indicated that in autumn S.bedoti was significantly correlated with salinity and temperature(P<0.05)and S.nagae was significantly correlated with water depth and temperature(P<0.05).In spring,both S.bedoti and S.nagae were significantly correlated with salinity and temperature(P<0.05).Null models showed that in autumn the observed Pianka index between S.bedoti and S.nagae was higher than the simulated value but not significantly different(P>0.05),suggesting a pattern of dispersal limitation driving the co-existence mechanism.In spring the observed Pianka index between S.bedoti and S.nagae was statistically higher than the simulated value,suggesting the important role of environmental filtering driving the species co-existence.
