Mesoscale Simulation of Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Concrete Under Impact at Low Temperatures

Abstract
Concrete materials will inevitably be subjected to impact loads during engineering service in the cold region.In order to study the dynamic mechanical properties of concrete under impact at low temperatures,numerical simulations of low-temperature quasi-static and room-temperature impact experiments are carried out,respectively,to calibrate the effects of low temperatures and strain rates on the mechanical properties of various fine-grained components of the concrete,and the simulation results agree well with the experiments.Numerical simulations of low-temperature impact under loading at different temperatures(20,-10,-40 and-70℃)and different strain rates(50,100,150 and 200 s-1)are conducted to study the dynamic mechanical properties of concrete materials at low temperatures.The results show that the damage pattern of the specimen changes from debonding cracking damage of the mortar phase and aggregate phase to overall damage of the specimen due to the increased brittleness of concrete at low temperatures.The compressive strength of concrete show temperature sensitivity and strain rate sensitivity,and the strain rate sensitivity of the dynamic compressive strength of concrete at-70℃increase significantly with the decrease of temperature.The average growth rate of compressive strength is 9.7%,6.2%and 6.9%relative to 20,-10,and-40℃,respectively,and the temperature sensitivity of dynamic compressive strength show a decreasing and then increasing trend.关键词
