A Preliminary Study on Treatment of Olfactory Dysfunction in Parkinson's Disease with'Eye-Nose Micro-Acupuncture'Based on'Eye-Nose Connection'

Abstract
Olfactory dysfunction is a sensitive marker for the early and prodromal stages of Parkinson's disease(PD)and serves as an important indicator for diagnostic evaluation.The eye-nose connection is closely linked to the brain from both the perspectives of Zang-Fu meridians and the local anatomy.Through the external orifices of the eyes and nose,it connects to the brain marrow and spirit orifices.Therefore,the treatment of PD-related olfactory dysfunction follows the principle of'opening the orifices and regulating the spirit'using micro-acupuncture of the eye and nose.The eye acupuncture follows a'two-position,two-method'needling approach:intra-orbital needling with direct insertion(internal,direct)and extra-orbital needling with penetrating insertion(external,penetrating).Nasal acupuncture includes both intranasal and extranasal needling,working together to directly connect to the eye orifices,thereby ensuring the smooth flow of the sensory orifices for enhanced perception and nourishing the spirit orifices.关键词
