Abstract

[Objective]To study the effects of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria on plant heavy metal resistance.[Method]Nineteen cop-per-tolerant bacteria were isolated from the soil of a chemical park in Urumqi,Xinjiang by gradient pressure domestication method.A copper-resistant and excellent plant growth-promoting bacterium A10C-1 was selected by determining plant growth-promoting traits.Based on morpho-logical observation,physiological-biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis,strain A10C-1 was identified.A pot experi-ment was carried out to check the effects of strain A10C-1 on the Cu2+resistance and accumulation of oilseed rape seedlings.[Result]Strain A10C-1 was identified as Serratia fonticola,which could grow at Cu2+levels ranging from 0 to 200 mg/L and had a strong ability to solubilize phosphorus,secrete indoleacetic acid and produce iron carriers to a moderate degree.S.fonticola A10C-1 inoculant alleviated the degree of seed germination inhibiton by Cu2+.A10C-1 inoculant significantly increased the oilseed rape plant height when the Cu2+concentration was 50 mg/kg.When the Cu2+concentration was 100 mg/kg,the chlorophyll content and fresh weight of the inoculated oilseed rape seedlings were increased by 60.56%and 70.42%compared with the non-inoculated control,respectively.Compared with the non-inoculated control,Cu2+content of upside and roots of oilseed rape seedlings inoculated with strain A10C-1 were significantly increased by 140.02%and 55.56%,re-spectively compared with the non-inoculated control at low Cu2+content.A10C-1 inoculant improved the transfer of Cu2+from root to shoot in oilseed rape seedlings when the concentration were 100 and 200 mg/kg.[Conclusion]The copper-tolerant and plant growth-promoting bacteri-um S.fonticola A10C-1 had strong adaptability to the environment and increased the uptake of Cu2+in oilseed rape seedlings,which could be used for the enhancement of plant heavy metal resistance.
