Abstract

To solve the problem of low early strength of super-sulfate cement(SSC),the influence of alkanolamine additive triethanolamine(TEA)on the mechanical and hydration properties of SSC was studied through strength experiments,XRD,TGA,SEM and other methods.The mechanism was also discussed.The results show that TEA has a significant effect on strength improvement of SSC at both 3 d and 28 d.Within 0.04%amount of TEA,the strength increases significantly with the increase of TEA content.But,if it exceeds 0.04%,it tends to be stabilized.At 0.04%of TEA,the strength at 3 d and 28 d increased by 52.3%and 43.1%,respectively.Compared to OPC,it was more effective in SSC in the presence of TEA.The improvement of SSC properties by TEA is owing to the chelation of Al3+by TEA,which promotes the decomposition of slag and accelerates the formation of ettringite.It indicates that the addition of alkanolamine is an effective way to improve the strength of SSC(especially early strength).
