Abstract

To solve the problems such as reduced pavement stability caused by the high temperature of asphalt pavement in summer,a solid-solid phase change thermal storage material(PUPCM)with active temperature regulation function was synthesized using a two-step polymerization method and then used as an asphalt modifier.The chemical structure,phase change performance and thermal stability of the PUPCM were studied by FTIR,DSC and TG tests.The effects of PUPCM on the properties of temperature-adjusting asphalt were studied by the segregation,rheological and temperature regulation tests.The temperature regulation mechanism was revealed by the specific heat capacity test.The results indicate that the PUPCM exhibits solid-solid phase change behavior.It has no degradation and leakage problems at 180℃,which can withstand the high-temperature construction conditions of asphalt pavements.The PUPCM also has suitable phase change temperature values(melting and crystallization onset temperature values:48.07℃ and 37.50℃)and excellent phase change thermal energy storage ability(latent heat value:101.71 J/g).The incorporation of the PUPCM can improve the high-temperature stability and low-temperature cracking resistance of asphalt.To ensure the good storage stability,the largest content of PUPCM in the temperature-adjusting asphalt is 8%.Under this content,the time that the temperature of temperature-adjusting asphalt rises to 55℃ is 25 min later than the original asphalt,and the PUPCM can reduce the asphalt temperature up to 3.6℃.The reason is that the PUPCM always has larger specific heat capacity values than asphalt in the range of 20-60℃(especially in the phase change range).
