Effect of Hot-pressing Temperature on Microstructure and Low-frequency Magnetic Properties of Fe-Si Soft Magnetic Powder Cores

Abstract
Fe-Si soft magnetic powder cores were prepared by a hot-pressing process.The effect of hot-pressing temperature on the microstructure and low-frequency magnetic properties of Fe-Si powder cores was studied.It was found that the insulation layer coated on the surface of Fe-Si powders was not destroyed by hot-pressing process.The density and maximum permeability of powder cores increase with the hot-pressing temperature,while the volume resistivity and core loss show the opposite trend of variation.High hot-pressing temperature makes the magnetic particles more prone to plastic deformation,which helps to increase the density of the powder core and thus weakens the structural demagnetizing field.At the same time,pressing at a low pressure and a high temperature can reduce the internal stress inside the powder core.Therefore,the maximum permeability and hysteresis loss of the powder cores can be greatly improved.Fe-Si powder cores pressed at high temperatures in this work achieve much better low-frequency magnetic performance than cold-pressed cores.The maximum permeability is above 130 and the minimum core loss at 1000 Hz/500 mT is only 26.8 W/kg.关键词
