Analysis of Agronomic Traits,Yield and Quality,and Comprehensive Evaluation of Shade Tolerance in Intercropping Soybean

Abstract
In order to research the effect of soybean and maize intercropping on soybean varieties and evaluate its shade-tolerance,20 spring soybean varieties(lines)and 17 summer soybean varieties(lines)bred in region of south China were used as experimental materials,two planting modes of soybean under intercropping with maize(shade treatment)and soybean single cropping(natural light)were designed to analysis the differences of soybean agronomic traits,yield and quality between intercropping and single cropping conditions,and to evaluate the shade-tolerance of different soybean varieties(lines)combined with method of principal component analysis and membership function by using shade tolerance coefficient(STC)of agronomic traits,yield and quality traits as indexes.The results showed that the number of pods per plant,seeds weight per plant,100-seed weight per plant and yield of most spring soybean varieties(lines)were significantly reduced under intercropping conditions,while the agronomic traits such as plant height,number of main stem nodes and number of effective branches were not significantly different from single cropping.For the most summer soybean varieties(lines),plant height,number of main stem nodes all increased significantly,and number of effective branching decreased significantly,yield traits,such as pods number per plant,seeds weight per plant,100-seed weight and yield all decreased to a certain extent by comparing with single cropping,but the difference was not significant.Quality traits such as crude protein and crude fat of most varieties(lines)including spring soybean and summer soybean in intercropping were not significantly different from single cropping.Summer soybean intercropping with maize is more advantageous than that of spring soybean in region of south China.Four principal components were extracted from spring soybean,and 82.96%of the original indexes were retained.Three principal components were extracted from summer soybean,and 73.79%of the original indexes were retained.Three spring soybean varieties including Guichundou 108,Guichundou 112 and Guichundou 104 and two summer soybean varieties including Guixiadou 105 and Huaxia 1 were selected as shade tolerant varieties with D value greater than or equal to 0.6.This study provides a reference for the selection of soybean varieties in soybean and maize belt composite planting in multi-cropping soybean ecological area of south China.关键词
