Main Influencing Factors and Research Advances in Quality and Nutritional Composition Changes of Paddy during Storage

Abstract
China's feed grain supply faces structural contradictions,with high-quality feed shortages threaten-ing food security and sustainable livestock development.Reducing reliance on corn and soybean meal is crucial for balancing feed grain supply and demand,and overstored paddy offers significant resource potential for feed use.However,systematic research on the nutritional changes of overstored grains is limited.This review exam-ines the quality and nutritional changes of paddy during storage,analyzing the impact of physical factors(tem-perature,humidity,and moisture),chemical factors(oxygen,carbon dioxide,and nitrogen),and biological factors(pests and molds).It also explores how drying processes affect nutrient retention.Results indicate that storage conditions with low temperature(≤20℃),low humidity(relative humidity ≤65%),and appropriate moisture(≤ 13%)delay fat acid oxidation and protein denaturation.Modified atmosphere storage technologies(e.g.,nitrogen flushing and oxygen reduction)inhibit mold growth and reduce nutrient loss.Overstored pad-dy,after shelling and antioxidant treatment,can replace corn in livestock diets without affecting animal produc-tivity.This study aims to optimize feed grain supply,reduce losses,and provide insights for the efficient use of overstored paddy.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2025,37(7):4286-4295].关键词
