Abstract

This work aims to address the dual demands of grassland resource development and the green organic livestock industry in Qinghai Province.Taking the Shaliu River-Harergai River area of Gangcha County,a core pastoral region in Qinghai as an example,we conducted the first 1∶50,000-scale geochemical survey and evaluation of grassland soil quality in Qinghai.Following the Geochemical Evaluation Standards for Land Quality(DZ/T 0295-2016),multidimensional geochemical assessment techniques were employed to systematically analyze 12 soil nutrient indicators(pH,organic matter,nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,etc.)and eight heavy metal elements(Cu,Pb,Zn,Cr,As,Cd,Hg,Ni).Soil nutrient levels were classified using the single-index grading method,while environmental risk assessment of heavy metals was performed based on the Nemerow comprehensive pollution index.A"nutrient-environment"matrix overlay model was applied to delineate comprehensive soil geochemical quality grades,enabling precise soil quality evaluation.Results indicate that first-grade(excellent)soils dominate the study area,covering 591.73 km2(98.59%of the total area),followed by second grade(good,0.02 km2),third grade(moderate,8.42 km2,1.40%),and fourth grade(poor,0.03 km2),with no fifth grade(inferior)soils detected.These findings demonstrate the region possesses high soil quality and favorable geochemical conditions for organic livestock production,which also fills the gap in 1∶50,000-scale soil data for Qinghai's alpine pastoral ecosystems.
