Abstract

A patch of flexible rods is characterized with wave attenuation,which can be used for the ecological revetments.Consequently,the study on the wave attenuation law by the patch of flexible rods has a considerable physical significance.Porous media model and Gaussian kernel function were employed to interpolate and distribute the interface coupling force in a bidirectional coupling numerical model of flexible rods and water current.First,the coupling model was verified by comparing with the experimental data on the wave attenuation effect resulting from the patch of flexible rods.Results showed better agreement between the simulation wave height and the experimental data,which produced much less discrepancy.The model was highly accurate and applicable.In addition to that,a numerical study was conducted to determine the influence on the wave attenuation by some wave factors(wave height,period and water depth)and the characteristic parameters involving in the patch of flexible rods(distribution density,length,and elastic modulus).The researches indicated that the rate of wave height attenuation declined with the increased water depth subject to same wave height,wave period,and parameter conditions of flexible rods.The rate of wave height attenuation increased disproportionately with the increment of the distribution density,length,and elastic modulus of the patch of flexible rods.
