Meta-analysis of the effects of blood flow restriction training on body composition and glycolipid metabolism in overweight and obese individuals

Abstract
Objective:To systematically evaluate the effects of blood flow restriction training(BFRT)on body composition and glycolipid metabolism in overweight and obese individuals.Methods:The systematic retrieval of Wanfang,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,PubMed and other databases was made,and the date was from the database establishment to January 10,2024.Two researchers independently screened literature of original studies in English and Chinese to investigate the effects of BFRT on body composition and glycolipid metabolism in overweight and obese individuals,according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.Meta-analysis of included literatures used Revman 5.3 software.Results:A total of 9 literatures were included,with a total sample size of 110 people.Meta-analysis results indicated that BFRT significantly reduced BMI and body fat percentage in overweight and obese individuals(P<0.05),with a trend of weight loss(P=0.06).BFRT also significantly lowered fasting blood glucose(P<0.05)and showed significant improvement effects on total cholesterol(TC)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)levels(P<0.05),with a decreasing trend in triglycerides(TG)(P=0.07).Conclusion:BFRT can significantly improve BMI,body fat percentage and fasting blood glucose in overweight and obese individuals,and help optimize blood lipid indicators.It has good metabolic regulation and intervention potential.However,due to limitations in the number and quality of included studies,these conclusions require further validation through more high-quality researches.关键词
