Meta-synthesis of qualitative studies on the learning experiences and needs of nursing postgraduates in course teaching models from the perspective of cultivating top innovative talents

Abstract

Objective:In the context of the Healthy China strategy,the importance of cultivating high-level innovative talents in nursing has become increasingly prominent.Postgraduate education plays a pivotal role in developing top innovative nursing professionals.However,traditional course teaching models no longer meet the demands of modern medical education.This study aims to conduct a Meta-synthesis of qualitative studies on the teaching experiences and learning needs of nursing postgraduates from the perspective of cultivating top innovative talents. Methods:A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CINAHL,The Cochrane Library,Medline,PsycINFO,Ovid,CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,and CBM databases from inception to November 2024.Qualitative studies focusing on postgraduate nursing students·experiences and needs regarding course teaching models were screened and appraised for quality.The Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)meta-aggregation method for evidence-based healthcare was applied to synthesize the results. Results:A total of 2 510 literatures were retrieved,with 8 literatures ultimately included after rigorous screening,1 in Chinese and 7 in English.Quality appraisal identified 2 literatures as Level A evidence and 6 as Level B.Using the ConQual system,the Meta-synthesis yielded 50 primary findings,8 new categories,and 3 synthesized findings:learning motivation and cognition,educational challenges and dilemmas,and development needs and improvement strategies. Conclusion:Current nursing postgraduate education systems exhibit areas in need of optimization regarding talent cultivation models.Nursing educators should respond to evolving societal and disciplinary demands by addressing students·educational needs and adjusting existing models to effectively cultivate top-tier innovative nursing professionals.
