Application effects of mini-clinical evaluation exercise combined with standardized patients in the reform of comprehensive practical teaching in Surgical Nursing

Abstract
Objective To explore the application and effectiveness of mini-clinical evaluation exercise(Mini-CEX)combined with standardized patients(SP)in the reform comprehensive practical teaching in surgical nursing.Methods In December 2023,A total of 297 undergraduate nursing students from six classes of Grade 2021(third-year students)at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine were selected by convenience sampling method.Mini-CEX combined with SP was applied in comprehensive practical teaching of surgical nursing to evaluate students'performance across different practical competency dimensions.A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess students'feedback on the teaching model reform.Results The majority of students(96.2%-98.7%)held a positive attitude towards this teaching model.Their performance was notably strong in nursing diagnosis(scoring rate:97.25%)and nursing interventions(scoring rate:87.33%).However,relatively lower performance was observed in humanistic care and communication skills(scoring rate:72.83%),nursing inquiry(scoring rate:71.84%),and physical examination(scoring rate:63.97%).Conclusions The comprehensive practical teaching model combining Mini-CEX and SP can scientifically evaluate students'clinical practical abilities,significantly improve their comprehensive practical skills and learning motivation,and has high promotion value.关键词
