Progress of Genetic Engineering Research on Lactic Acid Bacteria as Functional Molecular-based Drug Delivery Carriers

Abstract
There have been more and more evidence supporting the use of lactic acid bacteria(LAB),especially Lactococcus and Lactobacillus strains,as active drug delivery carriers to promote human health..As Gram-positive bacteria,LAB have been used in the production of fermented foods for thousands of years.Numerous studies have shown that lactic acid bacteria can induce systemic and mucosal immune responses against certain antigens during mucosal administration.Therefore,LAB have great potential in developing new mucosal routes of administration.This article mainly reviews the progress of genetic engineering research on LAB as an active carrier of functional molecular-based drug delivery.关键词
