Effects of Different Density Planting Patterns on Yield of Summer Maize

Abstract
To determine the optimal high-density cultivation pattern for summer maize in western He'nan,a field experiment was conducted using the hybrid Hanyu1604.Three planting densities(67 500 plants/hm2,82 500 plants/hm2,and 97 500 plants/hm2)and three cultivation patterns(uniform row spacing,wide-narrow row spacing,and twin-row staggered strip planting)were evaluated for their effects on yield and yield components.The results showed that yield significantly increased with planting density,while grains per ear and 1000-kernel weight decreased by 10.2%and 1.9%on average,respectively,and ear tip baldness increased.Compared with uniform row spacing,wide-narrow row spacing and twin-row staggered strip plant-ing increased yield by 6.5%and 11.3%,respectively,through enhanced single-plant leaf area and leaf area index(LAI).Seedling uniformity improved by 4.8%and 10.2%under wide-narrow rows and staggered strip planting,with more pro-nounced effects at high densities.For summer maize in western He'nan,twin-row staggered strip planting≥82 500 plants/hm2 was recommended as the optimal high-density cultivation mode to maximize yield.关键词
