Toxic Effect of Nerium oleander Alcohol-Soluble Substances on Pomacea canaliculata Eggs

Abstract
In order to develop an environment-friendly control strategy for Pomacea canaliculata,this study investigated the toxic effect and mechanism of alcohol-soluble substances from Nerium oleander on P.canaliculata eggs.Alcohol-soluble substances were prepared by ethanol extraction,and spectrophotometry showed the total flavonoid content(calculated as rutin)was 0.067 3 mg·mL-1.Treating P.canaliculata eggs with diluted alcohol-soluble extracts from N.oleander leaves revealed that the hatching rate of the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group,with the maximum inhibition rate exceeding 31.7%.Physiological and biochemical analyses indicated that the soluble protein content in the treated eggs decreased by 61.4%,the activities of alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase(AST)decreased by 89.9%and 88.1%,respectively.However,the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and peroxidase(POD)showed no significant changes.The results showed that the alcohol-soluble extract of Nerium oleander has certain toxic effects on the eggs of Pomacea canaliculata,inhibiting embryonic development.Meanwhile,it can significantly affect the energy metabolism pathway of eggs,destroy the antioxidant enzyme system in yolk granules,and disintegrate the defense mechanism of eggs.关键词
