Cinnamon Twig Decoction with Officinal Magnolia Bark and Apricot Kernel Decoction for Treating Infantile Cough Variant Asthma

Abstract
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Cinnamon Twig Decoction with Officinal Magnolia Bark and Apricot Kernel De-coction on cough variant asthma(CVA)and its impact on pulmonary function in children.Methods:A total of 152 infantile CVA pa-tients were randomly divided into the study group and the control group using the random number table,with 76 cases in each group.The control group received conventional Western medicine combined with infantile tuina therapy,while the study group received addi-tional Cinnamon Twig Decoction with Officinal Magnolia Bark and Apricot Kernel Decoction.Clinical efficacy,changes in TCM syn-drome scores,pulmonary function[including forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),peak expira-tory flow(PEF)],cough symptom scores,and T-lymphocyte subset levels before and after treatment were compared.Results:After treatment,the scores of TCM syndromes such as dry and itchy throat,aversion to cold and cold limbs,dry cough with little phlegm,and shortness of breath in both groups of children were lower than those before treatment in their respective groups,and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group after treatment(P＜0.05).The levels of FVC,FEV1 and PEF in the study group were(3.13±0.53)L,(3.36±0.43)L and(2.87±0.48)L·min-1 respectively,which were all higher than those before treatment in the study group and after treatment in the control group(P＜0.05).The scores of various cough symptoms in both groups were lower than those before treatment in their respective groups,and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group after treatment(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Cinnamon Twig Decoction with Officinal Magnolia Bark and Apricot Kernel Decoction can effectively relieve cough symptoms,improve airway function and immune responses in children with CVA.关键词
